Sylvia’s approach to teaching is based on modern Pilates. Unlike classical Pilates, which adheres closely to the methodologies Joseph Pilates devised in the early 20th century, the BASI school of Pilates builds on top of his teachings, leveraging contemporary research in physical therapy and biomechanics.
Sylvia is innovative, encouraging, smart and tough. You go for her intense class, you better be prepped and know the machines because there is no bs in her class- and that is what I pay for. You'd be slowing the team down if you are a beginner which is unfair.
My love for Pilates is 100% due to my favorite instructor, Sylvia.

Sylvia is one of the most talented instructors I’ve had in any discipline. As delightful as she is knowledgeable, she has the unusual ability to make her class fun as well as rigorous. I’ve practiced Pilates with her three times a week for two years, and the classes never get dull or repetitive. Sylvia provides a thorough workout, which I’ve not encountered with other Pilates instructors, adapting to her clients’ needs while challenging and stretching them beyond their perceived limits.

Sylvia is simply amazing at what she does! She trained me throughout my entire pregnancy. I was concerned about safety during pregnancy workouts, but I also wanted a real workout (not just a stretch). Sylvia is so well-trained and knows technique so well that I felt safe in her hands. Not only did I receive compliments daily about how fit I was during pregnancy, but I bounced back to taking intense Pilates classes within two weeks of giving birth. Sylvia is nothing short of the best. If you are looking for an easy stretch class, she is not the instructor for you. But if you want a challenge and want to see your body in top form, you cannot find a better instructor!
Sylvia is my pilates guru. She challenges my comfort zone by pushing my body, my spirit, and my mind to exceed the limitations I think each are capable of achieving. She asks for trust in order to take risks that measure the progress I have gained through strength building and increased confidence. I have done Pilates at countless studios on three continents and I can say, without even a hint of hyperbole, that Sylvia is far and away the best instructor I've ever had. Her classes are consistently challenging (I often remark how she seems to have limitless unique ways to torture us! Haha) but it's her charisma and joy for teaching that really sets her apart. I often pick studios for their convenience. Now I travel out of my way because no one but Sylvia will do.
Sylvia has been my Pilates instructor for the past 3 years. Her love of Pilates is apparent and contagious as it has become an addiction for most attending Sylvia classes. Our sessions are challenging and she always ensures we have proper form to avoid injuries. She motivates to push harder in class while treating us as individuals to achieve our optimal potential. I was an avid runner prior to Pilates and felt I was in pretty decent shape but after taking classes with Sylvia I am now in the best shape of my life. She ensures all of her classes not only target the core but all your major muscle groups. It is the best workout session and even though you are exhausted during the class she makes it enjoyable and fun at the same time. But you are always challenged and feel accomplished for the day. Sylvia's Pilate classes are addictive and my body and I thank her every day for how great I feel!
