Unlike classical Pilates, which adheres closely to the methodologies Joseph Pilates devised in the early 20th century, the BASI school of Pilates builds on top of his teachings, leveraging contemporary research in physical therapy and biomechanics.

Rachael Tice
Rachael was born and raised in NYC Manhattan, so the likelihood she will be wearing black is quite high. Competing heavily in figure skating for over ten years, her love of Pilates began at age 11. She has been teaching advanced, classical Pilates for over five years. Pilates will get you fit, get you strong and in her classes, get you laughing.

Founder
Sylvia has been practicing Pilates since 2007 and actively teaching it since 2012. A BASI-trained Pilates instructor, she has developed a dedicated following of clients who love the results they get from her classes: noticeable improvements to physique, endurance, strength, coordination, and flexibility.

Kate Symons
Kate Symons is a trained instructor through Balanced Body as well as PHI Pilates. Kate is also a certified instructor of the Booty Barre Plus method and TRX® Suspension Training® . She enjoys working with a diverse base of clients to help them discover not only the physical benefits of pilates, but the self confidence it builds as clients feel and see a difference in their body strength.

*Happy Hour Classes are limited only to 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM Weekdays only

General Policy:

  • All classes and sessions are by reservation only, and payment is due prior to the scheduled session or class. No walk-ins
  • All classes and sessions begin and end on time. Classes and sessions are 55 minutes long
  • Group classes with only one participant will be shortened to 45 minutes
  • All classes and sessions have 24-hour cancelation policy. Any cancelation within the 24-hour window will be charged for the class or session
  • People who have never done Pilates Reformer class before, are NOT allowed to attend the advanced class. To qualify for the advanced Pilates Reformer class, you need to have done at least 20 Pilates Reformer classes in the last 6 months, and have no injuries
  • No bare feet please. Socks are required
  • No use of cell phones. Please turn off the cell phones before entering the studio
  • No gum chewing please
  • Please refrain from wearing heavy perfumes, colognes, and other scents
  • Pilates By Sylvia reserves the right to turn away clients who do not comply with our policy and refund their purchases
  • Pilates By Sylvia reserves the right to substitute instructors if necessary
